With added precautions being taken due to the recent Coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak, a new client has reached out to us looking for a Registered Practical Nurse to work over the course of 5 days in the Vancouver area, from Monday April 13th until Friday April 17th.
This is a relief assignment, where you will be conducting assessments of hundreds of conference attendees as they enter and exit the event location. Please note that you will be given adequate training, preparation, and personal protective equipment as you treat these attendees.
For this very necessary task, we will pay you a competitive hourly wage, with an unpaid one hour lunch break.
The relief job will be located in a central, accessible area of Vancouver, accessible by public transit and car.
Duties of the Licensed Practical Nurse:
Use thermal screening machinery to track body temperature and check for related potential outward symptoms of people entering the conference location
Documents the incoming and outgoing attendees’ condition and nursing needs.
Accurately and promptly implement orders from supervising authorities
At the same time, you will take immediate action to treat any entrants to the facility who are exhibiting Coronavirus symptoms including fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, and symptoms associated with pneumonia.
You will need to extract these patients for further assessment and prepare them for care at a separate facility.
In addition to these primary duties, you will provide general nursing care for the people attending the conference. This may include treating for fatigue; injuries from slips, trips, and falls; and other medical emergencies that might occur.
Ensure that nursing supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
Provide daily reports and records of pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients.
Set-up and take down thermal screening and nursing stations at the beginning and end of the conference.
Required Credentials for this Position:
The ability to maintain a calm environment and control over a large influx of people as you check for symptoms.
Graduate of a two year post-secondary nursing program.
Licensed Practical Nurse certification in British Columbia.
Ability to communicate effectively with attendees, colleagues, and supervisors.
Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
CPR and First Aid certification
At least three years of experience working in a clinic or hospital setting as a licensed practical nurse.
