Wondering When The Best Time To Hit Up The Healthcare Job Market Might Be? Hint: It’s Now!

Over the last two years, we’ve spoken to hundreds of healthcare workers who have been unable to work full-time for a multitude of reasons generally associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is now mostly behind us. Whatever the reason may be, in this blog, we’re going to examine the reasons why right now – and not later – may be the best time for you to secure something more permanent, whether you’re a pharmacist, pharmacy technician, pharmacy assistant, registered nurse (RN), registered practical nurse (RPN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), nurse practitioner (NP), or personal support worker (PSW). And be sure to visit our blog every day, where we regularly post hot jobs located across Canada, as well as important healthcare news and other relevant topics.

Valid reasons for not working

There are several reasons why healthcare workers have been unable to work for the duration of the pandemic. Many have simply chosen to err on the side of caution and decided not to work out of a fear of catching the virus due to pre-existing health conditions, and/or passing it on to their loved ones, which is very understandable. Many older healthcare workers are already financially secure enough that they can live on their savings for an extended period of time without the need to work. And there are also many workers who are eager to work and wish that they could, but have been unable to find a steady full-time position and are instead working part-time or on a relief basis. No matter what the reason may be, it’s important to remember that with the vast majority of the Canadian population fully vaccinated, and most restrictions now relaxed, we’ve reached a point where COVID-19 is something that we’ll simply need to live with moving forward. And to that end, there’s no better time than right now to begin actively searching for a new full-time position and secure a job that you’ll be happy with in the future.

The time is now

You may not be aware, but there are currently many healthcare employers who are looking to hire, and this means that any healthcare employee who is interested in getting back to a full-time position should be looking at finding something now, as opposed to waiting until later this year when there is likely to be a very high demand for positions from those who waited too long to get back to work. This will inevitably lead to an eventual rush for healthcare jobs, and this is precisely why you shouldn’t hold off on beginning your job search. To put it another way – the last thing you want to experience later this year is that feeling often referred to as FOMO, or the fear of missing out. Timing is key, and if you wait until the last minute, the majority of fantastic and available jobs will no longer be available.
