When Canada (and much of the rest of the world) essentially shut down in March 2020 in an effort to quell the momentum of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no way that any of us could have guessed that the situation we found ourselves in would last for almost 2 full years. Truly, this global pandemic has permanently changed the way of life that we’ve all been used to, but with this being said, life has largely returned to normal across Canada. Sure, this is the ‘new normal’ that we’ve heard so much about, and it’s unlikely that our world will ever fully return to the ‘old normal’ of the before times, but with summer almost here, it actually feels like we have something to celebrate this year!
For healthcare workers – including pharmacists, registered pharmacy technicians (RPhT), pharmacy assistants, pharmacy managers, registered nurses (RN), nurse practitioners (NP), registered and licensed practical nurses (RPN/LPN), and personal support workers (PSW) – this is obviously a great thing, as many have chosen to not work for a large part of the last 2 years out of an abundance of caution for their health. But at RPI Consulting Group, we’re here to tell you that if you’re ready to head back to work, there’s simply no better time than right now to do so – and you don’t want to miss out on a great opportunity due to indecision or procrastination. Read on to find out more, and remember: RPI’s blog is updated weekly with hot jobs and important healthcare information, so be sure to check it out regularly!
The situation has improved
It’s understandable to be a bit hesitant about going back to work during a pandemic – whether it’s a nursing home, a hospital, or a pharmacy, it can be a daunting step to take. However, it’s important to remember that during the first few months of the pandemic, many facilities were ill-equipped to handle new health guidelines – personal protective equipment (PPE) was hard to come by, and overall, nobody was prepared for the sweeping changes that were necessary for the safety of employees and patients alike. But now, two years into the pandemic, health and safety practices have greatly improved across the board, so there’s much less need to worry.
The sky’s the limit
Currently, many healthcare facilities such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and nursing homes are paying a premium to bring in new employees on a full-time or contract basis, and if you’re a worker who’s been unemployed or working less than full-time hours for the last little while, there truly is no better time than NOW to get back into the game. Eventually, these rising wages are going to ‘deflate’ and fall back down to more normal levels, and you don’t want to miss your opportunity to make as much money as you possibly can. If you have the means of going back to work now, you can not only make some great money, you can also avoid that rush in the months ahead.
