After a long, cold, and tough winter, the weather outside is slowly getting far less frightful, and we’re even getting the occasional day of warmth! But here at RPI Consulting Group, the healthcare job market has been hot for months, and it’s showing no signs of cooling down. In the last few months, we’ve seen an increase in the number of job opportunities that we’re receiving from our clients, especially for registered nurses (RN), registered practical nurses (RPN), licensed practical nurses (LPN), pharmacy technicians (RPhT), pharmacists, emergency pharmacists and nurses, and more. And because we’re seeing an increase in job opportunities, this means there’s also a greater need for healthcare employees – so much so that, in many cases, you don’t need as much experience as you might think to apply for certain positions. Read on to find out more, and as always, be sure to check our blog every week to read about the hottest jobs and up-to-the-minute healthcare news.
Experience isn’t everything
As the availability of healthcare jobs continues to increase with each passing month, many of RPI’s clients have informed us that they’re willing to hire and work with candidates who may not have the experience that was traditionally needed for certain roles. For example, if you recently become a licensed RN but you lack the years’ worth of experience that many job postings call for, we still want to hear from you! If you’re a newly-licensed RPN/LPN, RPhT, pharmacist, or virtually any other healthcare position, RPI has a wide variety of open jobs available in virtually every large-to-medium city in the country, and also in many smaller towns and rural areas. The simple fact of the matter is that the healthcare industry is currently booming, and healthcare employees have a greater breadth of job/salary choices than ever before.
And on top of that, we’re also seeing a fairly substantial increase in healthcare worker wages as well. In recent weeks we’ve placed emergency pharmacists for as much as $60 per hour, and we’ve seen similarly high wages for other ’emergency’ employees (which essentially refers to healthcare workers who have had their licensure ‘fast-tracked’ in order to meet the greater demand for employees). In fact, it wasn’t that long ago that our team placed a relief pharmacist in a pharmacy in Northern Ontario for the unheard-of wage of $120 per hour – you can read more about that here. What it all comes down to is this – experience is no longer as important as it once was, and as long as you’re properly licensed/accredited, you can accept job opportunities that previously might not have been available to you.
