Seeking a Pharmacy Technician to Work for 12 Months in London, Ontario

Our client operates a pharmacy within a specialized healthcare facility, dispensing over 55,000 prescription drug doses annually.

This position starts on Wednesday April 1st 2020, continuing all the way until Wednesday the 31st of March 2021. This gives you a very good reason to move to London, Ontario if you don’t already live here. This would be an excellent 12 months of work experience to add to your resume, showing your ability to adapt to working with public sector clients. If you’re looking to become a more well-rounded pharmacy technician, beyond retail pharmacy work, this is precisely where you should be working.

The Role of the RPhT:

The on-site relief pharmacy technician will provide services as per NAPRA Model Standards of Practice, including:

  • Technical verification of medication orders and doses
  • Preparing unit dose oral syringes and prescriptions
  • Compounding oral suspensions
  • Completing Best Possible Medication History documentation
  • Collaborating with pharmacists to dispense medications to residential units on a daily basis
  • The shifts most often required are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
  • This shift includes one 45-minute unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks.
  •  Client information must not be removed from the workplace, and the client maintains all claims and rights to the data, records and information of clients.
  • You must work in compliance with the Freedom of Privacy Protection Act (FIPPA) and Personal Health Information Privacy and Access Act (PHIPPA)
  • You must work in compliance with the client’s policy and procedures as advised

Required Credentials:

  • Proof of current membership in good standard with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • You may be trained to use the client’s pharmacy software system for a maximum of 10 hours.
  • You will need to have proof of graduating from a post-secondary pharmacy technician program.
  • Practical knowledge of one or more pharmacy software systems would be a strong asset.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and empathy for patients is needed.
  • Our client is looking for applicants with one year or more of RPhT work experience.
  • Institutional or hospital pharmacy work experience would be an asset.
