For example, if a patient is on a low-sodium diet, the aide must only prepare and serve them food that has very little to no salt. Other duties including serving patients in a sanitary and friendly manner; ensuring that food stock is properly stored and maintained; tracking inventory; monitor the temperature and accuracy of food during and after preparation; clean dishes, utensils, and eating areas using appropriate procedures; and plan menus as required.

Qualifications required

Dietary aides are an interesting case when it comes to necessary qualifications – unlike the majority of roles in healthcare, an aide doesn’t necessarily need to have previous work experience in a healthcare environment. The most important skills required to work as a dietary aide include a high school diploma (or equivalent); previous work experience in food service; strong customer service skills; a general understanding of dietary and nutritional needs; and the ability to be on your feet for several hours at a time.

In closing

If you’re a dietary aide who is currently looking for work, we have dozens of opportunities available – contact one of our Account Managers today, and let us know when you’re available to begin work and improve the lives of patients in nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

Phone: 416-850-9809; Toll-Free: 1-866-505-3383

Email: info@rpigroup.ca

One of the most important roles in nursing homes and long-term care facilities is the dietary aide, and…

[13
